Macadamia nuts have a creamy flavour and crunchy texture similar to Brazil nuts, but slightly softer, and more buttery.
By comparison with other nuts such as almonds and cashews, macadamias are high in fat and low in protein. Their content of beneficial monounsaturated fats is the highest among any known nut. In addition it also contain about 22% of omega-7 palmitoleic acid. On the other hand, they also contain 9% protein, 9% carbohydrate, and 2% dietary fibre, in addition to calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, selenium, iron, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin.
But Macadamias are toxic to dogs.
